It has come to our attention that a group of scammers is targeting the families of individuals who have recently passed away. These individuals falsely claim to represent our funeral homes. They fraudulently allege issues with payment or invent reasons to request additional funds. For instance, they may falsely state a need to cover ‘liability insurance,’ promising reimbursement later. In some cases, they demand sums like $1800.00, though amounts vary. They have even threatened to cancel funeral or burial services unless immediate payment is made over the phone. It appears these scammers obtain information from recently published obituaries and use public records and internet searches to find contact details.
We are deeply troubled that anyone would exploit others during such a difficult time, and we hope this scam will be stopped soon.
Please be aware of this scam and do not provide payment over the phone unless you personally know the caller. If you receive such a call, we advise hanging up and contacting us directly at 770-942-2311 or 770-459-3694.
We take this matter seriously and have alerted the appropriate authorities.
